Coming to a Little Free Library Near You!

We released Spellbinder, our brand new quick-play tabletop RPG, almost two weeks ago. This one’s a little different! In order to play, you need to borrow a book from your local Little Free Library. Once you have a book in hand, you use it as your character’s spellbook. By plucking phrases from its pages and rolling dice, you cast powerful (but unpredictable) spells.

A big part of Spellbinder is sharing the free game in the Little Free Libraries themselves. We made a special zine that you can print out, fold, and drop off as you pick up books from these little boxes. It stars Thumbledore, who the graced the pages of Thumbledore’s Tiny Dungeons on a monthly basis over the past year. The tiny wizard calls out passersby and presents them with a QR code to download the full game.

We’ve been on a bit of a rampage throughout December to get zines into Little Free Libraries. Over one hundred zines have been handed out in Toronto, with more to come in Montreal. We, of course, would love your help with this project. You can download the zine yourself as a PDF alongside the free one-page rules for Spellbinder.

Thanks so much for lending a hand and, in general, for supporting Mammoth Island throughout 2024. We’re hoping to have lots of exciting new projects for you in the new year.

Things to Know!

  • You can find a Free Little Library near you using their world map or by downloading their mobile app.
  • When printing a zine, remember to set the page size to “Actual size” or “100%” or else the margins will be off.
  • If you’ve never folded a zine before, check out Taylor Rushing’s guide for step-by-step instructions.
