Happy New Year’s! We’re happy to announce our first project of 2025.

Monstrous Modifiers is a supplement for the DURF roleplaying game, developed by Emiel Boven. It was intended for DURF Jam 2024; however, I was deep in development of Spellbinder at the time and breezed by the deadline.

Spellbinder, incidentally, was also a late entry intended for the One-Page RPG Jame 2024. So it goes.

Anyhow, Monstrous Modifiers provides a series of 25 monster templates: sets of rules a GM can apply to a monster to transform it into a slightly different monster. The design goal was to increase the replayability of existing DURF adventures by allowing the GM to reskin and retool monsters on the fly.

Some of the templates are mundane (subterranean, aquatic, fiendish). Others are intended to completely change the dynamics of an encounter (stained glass, explosive, mascot suit). Pick and choose the ones you like best!

DURF will be coming out with a new edition soon, so now is a great time to get into the game. Monstrous Modifiers and The Acolyte (our on-time entry to DURF Jam 2023) will see updates once these new rules are finalized.
